Your Captain’s Dave Irwin and Jamie Chianfoni got married and so they decided to merge DNA Sportfishing and SIC Charters becoming SIC DNA Sportfishing!
Dave is a 4th generation fisherman in The Florida Keys. He holds a USCG 100 ton Masters License. His family homesteaded Flamingo in the 1940’s, which is now known as “Everglades National Park.” He started commercial fishing as a mate for his dad, Capt. Johnny Irwin when he was 12 years old. That’s when he began to learn about the water and how to fish for a variety of species. He chose to become a professional fishing guide to share his experiences and knowledge with others that share the same passion for the outdoors and fishing as he does. Capt. Dave is on multiple Pro-Staff programs in the fishing industry, including Aftco, Mercury Marine, Van Staahl, Power Pole and several others. Capt. Dave has been a full time guide since 2012.
Capt. Jamie is originally from Upstate New York and is a retired police officer of 17 years from Grand Rapids, Michigan, whose love of the water, brought her to Key West permanently in 2013. Capt. Jamie‘s passion for fishing carried over from MI where she fished every chance she could, including ice fishing. Capt. Jamie learned to fish The Keys by some of the best fisherman The Keys have, including her husband 🙂. She has been chartering in Key West since 2019.
Dave and Jamie have been running charters together since 2020. They make a great team and working together keeps you on the fish and fishing more. Captain Jamie goes on most trips when it’s couples and families or when needed!
When not on charters you’ll find them likely fishing or boating with their 2 dogs, Cam, their Yorkie who thinks he’s a Lab and Mate, their German Wirehaired Pointer. Parts of September and October, they may be at their deer camp in The Upper Peninsula of MI, riding side by sides and hunting!
While fishing, you’ll be boarding a brand new Pathfinder 2500 with a tower, powered by a Mercury 350 Verad This hybrid boat gives our clients a smooth ride with a variety of fishing opportunities.
While on our seasonal lobster/bully netting trips, you’ll be on a new, custom built, 17’ Boston Whaler, powered by a brand new Mercury Pro xs 115hp. No expense was spared making this one of the nicest, well thought out bully boats. This is because Capt. Dave built it himself! Capt. Dave is also a master mechanic and is just as good at working on boats as he is fishing. The bully boat has ample room for up to 4 guests.
